Ah, the good old days of polio

Yes, the left is desperate and tedious.

I see Jesse Jackson's in one of the videos. So Jesse, you still wanna hit Barack below the belt.

You're the ones clinging to the past as your power fades and your race card shtick fails.

More: on the creepy Andre Carson

He doesn't need a joint session to command respect...

This is a memorable speech: P.S. Speaker Boehner suggests a bipartisan date:)

The other day we read of a mob action in Chinatown, they stomped on his head.

Earlier, what played in Peoria.

Just another day in liberal nirvana.

Whadda ya know.

Public school principal globetrots on taxpayer tab

Insult to injury, he's getting paid $142K a year and he's on a "working vacation"? And it wasn't even found by an audit. Sun Times:
Ogden International School Principal Kenneth Staral, who makes $142,000 a year, traveled with students as part of a program he created to teach kids about different cultures, according to the report that aired Tuesday. The charges spanned a dozen trips taken between January 2009 and June 2010, records showed.

The report found Staral charged taxpayers for expensive meals at Michelin-rated restaurants in Lyon, France; a visit to The Caviar House in London; a stay at a five-star boutique hotel in Prague; limos in New York; and in Chicago, $1,200 in one visit to Gibson’s and $1,400 in a visit to Hugo’s Frog Bar.
The Chicago Public schools are still just "considering" eliminating these credit cards. And what's with the Chicago charges--maybe he was testing the casino concept for Rahm. So cultural and all.

...or scouting for Michelle.

The Obama App

Hey, it's not official Obama policy, could be that's why at least this works. A steal for 99-cents. Hopey-changey held accountable.

Shepard Fairey getting beaten up again as well.

What to do when you're not cool any more:
Right now, few people in Washington are as expert on damaged images as Obama.
Obama has seen his overall approval ratings along with his numbers with constituencies key to his reelection hit new lows this August.
He needs a villain and fast.
Who's got that app. We are all extremists now, just for noticing the truth.

P.S. No iconic looks for sale at the O 2012 store. They've got a First Family button:
He needs Michelle and Co. to help him out. Good luck with that
That previous cycle was a collective outcry to lessen the power of one party and to halt the president’s policies. The next cycle is personal; it is about your home, your pocketbook, your family, and ensuring your future is less uncertain.
This is kinda seared into my mind, catchy neon green bag notwithstanding (nice try, Huffpo)

Does Obama's EPA want to finish us off?

Making those hostile to America EPA moves. Reaction from one of my friends:
The new EPA coal regulations will bring the economy to a halt in states like Illinois.   Layoffs, spikes in electric bills and non-payments will soon be upon us.  For a picture of what is to come, check out Germany after their government suddenly ended nuclear generation. (Economist)   Mr. Obama always did want us to be more like Europe.....   He's getting his wish.
Here's the Economist article. Shock to the system.

All in aid of the scientifically discredited greenie global warming religion.

With our economy on the ropes, the last thing we need is more ephemeral green jobs subsidies and a massive regulatory grab that puts responsible power generation in jeopardy.

Many on the East Coast are experiencing life without power for a few days. For some it could be life threatening--the failure of wind power in Texas on hot days is a cautionary tale.

This administration is a menace.

CAIR to take a look?

Yes, my former neighbor really was a racist, terror-supporting Muslim Brotherhood cleric:
I should add that the Columbus Dispatch is joined in silence by the many Islamic organizations and Islamic leaders in Ohio and around the country that publicly defended Salah Sultan and have attacked me and my family. That would include our local mosque, the Noor Islamic Cultural Center (where Sultan served as resident scholar); our local Islamic school, Sunrise Academy (where Sultan served as religious director); the Fiqh Council of North America, which bills itself as the highest Islamic religious authority in North America (which Sultan was a member of); or the Muslim American Society (where Sultan served as director of tarbiyeh). And did I mention that Sultan was a signatory to the Council on American-Islamic Relations 2005 fatwa condemning terrorism (which never defines terrorism or condemns any specific terror group)?

NM governor gets perfect score on renewal of her concealed-carry permit

Republican Susana Martinez:
She was a district attorney and a Republican candidate for governor when she first went through training and qualified to carry a concealed weapon. Her spokesman, Greg Blair, said Martinez's personal and professional experiences motivated her to arm herself.
Not only was she a prosecutor, but her husband, Chuck Franco, was undersheriff of Dona Ana County.
"Since she and Chuck both made careers out of taking on dangerous and violent criminals, she decided to get her concealed-carry permit for personal protection, especially when traveling alone or at night on the campaign trail," Blair said.
As governor, Martinez has a security detail, but she still chooses to carry a weapon, Blair said.
In Illinois she would be considered unfit to carry--as are all its citizens.

Time to change that.

latest attack was last Thursday afternoon near Missouri Botanical Garden

There's an alert out about recent assaults on bike riders in south St. Louis.
Trailnet.org, an organization that promotes hiking and biking, is cautioning riders to be on the alert for roving bands of teenagers who swarm and attack riders.
Trailnet says the latest attack was last Thursday (8/25) afternoon near Missouri Botanical Garden where a group of 10 to 15 African-American teens charged and attacked a cyclist.
"They weren't really interested in robbing me. It just seemed like they wanted to beat me up," says assault victim Cheech Ramirez. "They weren't interested in letting me get off the ground and having a fair fight."
Via RCP, John T. Bennett in the American Thinker--latest on the Knockout Game, with a resurgence in Denver, the site of the last Dem convention.

Now they're not just using fists but baseball bats. More:
It cannot be emphasized enough that these attacks often occur in suburban areas where the black groups have to leave their own neighborhoods and purposefully travel to areas that are predominantly non-black, to attack non-black victims. For instance, in one of the many flash mob attacks in Chicago, Trovulus Pickett, 17, is part of a group that attacked and robbed several victims, including a 68-year-old doctor. The attacks occurred in the North side, which is 15 miles away from Pickett's home. This indicates a serious level of planning and potential racial targeting. If these were just run-of-the mill robberies, it wouldn't be too surprising. But the social problem we're looking at is large groups, sometimes numbering in the hundreds, sometimes armed, engaging in racially-focused violent crimes.
So are we gonna ban baseball bats?

Feet?

P.S. Bennett: "While academics dwell on hateful speech, the actual violence continues." Then we have a human rights investigator like this, who thinks even hateful speech is no biggie:
Following an investigation, officials at the Illinois Department of Human Rights delivered a verbal reprimand to Alvin Forbes Sr. in the spring. The case came to light Monday when the state’s Executive Ethics Commission published the details on its web site.
The pro-Democratic e-mail urged readers to fight at the ballot box against a tea party political coup because “these people hate blacks. They hate Latinos. They hate Muslims and have at times made many anti-Semitic statements. They hate gays. They hate any moderate Republican who might be likely to cooperate with Obama.”
Forbes, 56, of Chicago, said in an interview that the case against him was “petty as hell.” He called the reprimand “bogus,” saying he sent the e-mail accidentally to some of his co-workers. He said his sister had sent it to him.
“I didn’t endorse it at all,” Forbes said. “It was just something I inadvertently sent. Had I thought a little more about it and were able to perceive the ramifications that I would have experienced, I would have just eliminated that e-mail altogether.”
One of the other places hit in Chicago was Boystown.

School choice on the march

in Indiana, even as unions attempt to disrupt choice for children in Milwaukee. Chicago Daily Observer.

...then there's Chicago:
The school reform bill that Emanuel helped push through the Illinois General Assembly authorizes a longer school day and school year. But the changes cannot be implemented during the upcoming school year without union consent.[snip]

In mid-January, Chicago high school students participating in the “Mikva Challenge” painted a bleak picture of the obstacles they face to learning every day as they questioned Emanuel and three other mayoral candidates.
They specifically complained about: fights in school that security guards watch, but don’t break up; bullying inside and outside schools that often target gay and lesbian students; students getting jumped by gang members on the way to school or “harassed” by police; cuts to arts and sports programs; and interminably long and sometimes dangerous commutes.
Chicago’s first-ever Youth Commission was born from that mayoral forum with student meetings with Emanuel now expected to be held four times annually.

Using granny's handicapped pass

I imagine this happens all over the country. From a friend in my suburban Chicago:
A Skokie resident I swim with complained to me that Gillson Park is over run by soccer players, and large groups cooking and eating all over the place.   I was amused by her complaints as she is also a non resident, but what really interested me was that she was waved into the park without a Gillson pass or Wilmette sticker because she had her mom' handicapped tag dangling from her mirror!    She does this all the time.   Handicapped tags are a magic pass to Gillson.  No wonder the non-locals can bring so much junk to the park!    They use granny's handicapped parking pass.   So much for parking restrictions........
From another friend:
Gee if I could get a handicap tag I could save the $60 Wilmette parking fee!

The city that works, now the city that gambles?

No more Big Shoulders it's Big Jule? Really, Chicago? Really Mayor Rahmbo (at 31:41)?

Lotteries are already regressive taxes, hitting the poor more heavily, but losses are limited. Without even getting into the Chicago Machine city still having mobsters lurking in the background, and its current crime rate--which will probably deliver Fortress Casino, to the demise of surrounding small businesses, consider this:
The best blue-collar and white-collar workers, the Type-A personalities, are the most likely to become pathological gamblers (Kindt 1994b). A business with 1,000 workers can anticipate increased personnel costs of $500,000 or more per year-simply by having various forms of legalized gambling activities accessible to its workers. [snip]

Adherence to a philosophy of making a living via gambling activities not only abrogates the perceived need for an education, but also reinforces economically unproductive activities (and is statistically impossible since the "house" always wins eventually).
In this case the house would be the City of Chicago.

Illinois already has the worst job creation record in the country

This is a cynical and inherently corrupt enterprise, with the city as owner, regulator, law enforcement, and subsidizer of a revolving door of social pathology.

Run to daylight, America:)

P.S. In case you missed it, this is a most excellent rant--from the former Amex CEO telling O's buddy Buffett to stuff it. It reads like a TEA party list:
Governments have an obligation to spend our tax money on programs that work. They fail at this fundamental task. Do we really need dozens of retraining programs with no measure of performance or results? Do we really need to spend money on solar panels, windmills and battery-operated cars when we have ample energy supplies in this country? Do we really need all the regulations that put an estimated $2 trillion burden on our economy by raising the price of things we buy? Do we really need subsidies for domestic sugar farmers and ethanol producers?
Why do we require that public projects pay above-market labor costs? Why do we spend billions on trains that no one will ride? Why do we keep post offices open in places no one lives? Why do we subsidize small airports in communities close to larger ones? Why do we pay government workers above-market rates and outlandish benefits? Do we really need an energy department or an education department at all?
And let's hear it for our grandchildren!

Oh boy. I have to say, at least they weren't sumo wrestlers.

Press pool accounts of the moment said the horse “got a bit excited” by Biden’s gesture and had to be taken away. (Aides said it would not be returning to the U.S. on Air Force 2.)
When asked later to explain what happened, Biden said the animal "reared up" on him and concluded that it must not have liked "the Irish epitaph."
Perhaps Joe needs an English translator. Epithet?

But maybe he just has his and O's political future on the brain.

Then there are other people doing other things around town.

The robbery of the cell phone is just an excuse, a trophy. After all, they organized themselves via cell phone.

Police are investigating whether they've been involved in other flash mob incidents. Like maybe the one that started out the summer, along the lakeshore, in huge numbers. Strange New Respect

If nothing else this exposes the leftie media for the total myopic partisans they are. Via Lucianne, Toby Harnden:
In the past few days, Karl Rove, President George W. Bush’s long-time consigliere and an erstwhile hate figure on the Left, has been welcomed back into polite society. Democrats who previously thought the only place Rove should be was in jail have been murmuring approvingly about his wisdom and moderation. At the same time, Left-wingers whose only debate about Bush over the past decade has been whether he was stupid, evil or a lethal combination of both, are suddenly citing the former president’s “compassionate conservatism”. The Huffington Post’s Howard Finemann noted that he was better read and more thoughtful than previously given credit for and now seemed “like Pericles”.
(Oh yeah, a Martha's Vineyard beach reading list president is what we need now) It's how they initially welcomed Michelle Bachmann, as a means to beat Sarah Palin, until they realized she was a viable threat to their parochial, dysfunctional world view too.

Who will be the beneficiary of their strange new respect next?

My bet is Mitt, oops already there.

The feeling is near universal:
But previous presidents didn't take those vacations while Americans pulled $23.5 billion out of their 401(k) plans—in just the first ten days of this month. For the first time in my lifetime, the thought of putting cash under the mattress doesn't seem so crazy. In our house, the grandparents have started calling at night, worried about their retirement funds. There's so much uncertainty and fear

So many times in life, fear comes when there is a lack of clarity. Not only can we not predict what's going to happen with our economy, there doesn't seem to be a plan. When the headline "Breaking News: Obama to Give Jobs Speech in September" crawled across the TV screen as he headed to the Vineyard, I laughed out loud.
Unfortunately he's not headed for obscurity yet.

Murder in Turkey, Civilization Shrinks: Irish Moms Over Marriage

This is really disturbing. A "youth" wants to marry the 15 year old daughter, whom he presumably met at the northern Irish parents' Turkish vacation place. At least the mom is opposed, but trustingly sets off with another mom and the boyfriend to meet the other family near Izmir, the Pearl of Turkey:
A Turkish news agency claims the girl's teenage boyfriend stabbed the women in a frenzied attack because he was not allowed to marry one of the daughters, believed to be Shannon.

Turkish police questioned the girl's 17-year-old boyfriend, named locally as Recep C, who initially denied any involvement with their disappearance.

But following a search of their estate blood-stained clothing was reportedly discovered in a bin.
Read some of the comments:
As a Turk I am disappointed how my country is going. Would all you happy holiday makers who visit turkey every year consider Iran as a holiday destination? I say this because turkey is heading that way. The Turkish pm himself has advised women to not work and stay home to have minimum 3 children. Is this equality to you?

I've been writing about this since the Memorial Day weekend attack in Chicago on downtown beaches and bikepaths, where purportedly, based on the buzz on unofficial police blogs, referred to in this WLS Chicago interview, as many as 2, 000 "youths" swarmed the lakefront.
Clearly Betty is not a fan of Barack and Michelle's former favorite pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Listen.
The new mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, and his new sidekick police chief, stick to the story that the shutdown had to do with "heat-related illnesses". Those supposedly suburban bikers were just dropping like flies. Those beachgoers close to the pretty frigid 68 degrees if you're lucky Lake Michigan succumbing to heat exhaustion.

Here's another element. As Rep. Allen West (R-FL) pointed out yesterday--the liberal plantation:
While Mayor Nutter deserves some credit for calling out the teen hoodlums in his midst, it’s hard to take him seriously as someone who really wants to go after the black teen unemployment problem. You see, he has a lot in common with this country’s chief executive.
While Barack Obama was on a three-state bus tour this week in “Greyhound One,” shattering all previous presidential records for whining and excuse-making, Nutter, a deputy mayor, and the city’s water commissioner were on a junket in Rio de Janeiro accompanying Lisa Jackson, who heads Obama’s job-killing Environmental Protection Agency. Their objective: “to listen, learn, and lend their expertise on green development.” Nutter’s ultimate goal: “to make Philadelphia the greenest city in the country.”
And finally, the leftist trial lawyer community organizers and the gun-control crowd.

James Bovard: Raising Hell in Subsidized Housing:
After a four-year investigation, the Indianapolis Housing Authority (IHA) in 2006 linked 80% of criminal homicides in Marion County, Ind., to individuals fraudulently obtaining federal assistance "in either the public housing program or the Section 8 program administered by the agency." The IHA released an update last month citing recent crackdowns on a "nationwide criminal motorcycle gang operating out of a Section 8 home." It also noted one "attorney who allegedly operated a law practice from a Section 8 home for eight years, providing shelter to unauthorized occupants who were linked to 10 homicides, 431 police calls and 394 criminal arrests during that time period."

Dubuque, Iowa, is struggling with an influx of Section 8 recipients from Chicago housing projects.
Gee, why didn't Barack drop by?

Maybe it's time for the O as celebrity ad again

The other day while trying to impress us heartland yokels, our President Barack Obama blamed the internet for job losses. The internet ate his homework.

But it's OK, he gets a vacay anyway, after all, he's the biggest celeb in the world. Postcards from Barack:
Even Politico's on his case. Hey, Barack, are you afraid to go home to Chicago?

Barack Obama, man of the people.

...Market drops again, initial jobless claims up again--reversing trend, worse than expected. And how bout that inflation, making it a staycation for many.

...But our President Barack Obama is singing See you in September on jobs. Yeah, right. P.S. Paris Hilton opens new handbag store in Manila. That's overseas. Not creating jobs here. Michelle and Barack.

And O was supposed to be such a hip tech guy...

Remember, he even bashed John McCain, whose arm was damaged from POW torture, in an ad as not being internet savvy.

Now he's bashing the internet. Doug Ross: Presidency hits its all-time economic nadir: Obama blames Internet and ATMs for high unemployment
