More on Shadegg for House Majority Leader

John Shadegg was elected to Congress in1994, campaigning under the "Contract with America", and is the best chance for the Republican party to forge a winning agenda for the fall elections and beyond: smaller government and job growth go hand in hand. And he has the integrity to make congressional ethics reform stick. We have got to distinguish ourselves from the Democrats and reign in the size of government, or the voters won't trust us to control both the Congress and the Presidency.

Story in the Washington Post: "I think he's by far the most conservative guy who's acceptable to a broad ideological spectrum in the [Republican] Conference," said former representative Pat Toomey, president of the Club for Growth, who encouraged Shadegg to run. "He's a very easy guy to get along with, a very good-natured guy. He doesn't make enemies." While clearly an underdog, Toomey said, "John is in the best position to demand a departure from the old ways of doing business."
