Thank You For Smoking

It's spring break for the schools in our neighborhood, but we're still here. Hey, the sun's shining and it's only 25 degrees! Last night we went to see Thank You for Smoking, the movie. Book noted here. (He also has written, "No Way to Treat a First Lady" about the First Lady murdering her spouse. While it would be hard to imagine that happening in this White House, who knows about the next administration? Only it would more likely be President Hillary committing the crime.)

I rarely go to movies any more, so I won't attempt a review. But I did go to this one, and it was very well done. I'm usually a smile at the humor kind of person, but I laughed out loud. As you can imagine, there are some nice digs at the PC crowd to savor. Interestingly enough, very PC Evanston allows smoking in their restaurants. My village next door, Wilmette, passed a blanket anti-smoking ordinance last year. Now Cook County is getting in the act to ban it unless towns vote expressly to allow it. It will be interesting to see what Evanston does, after getting all this filthy lucre from their neighbors. And how will this affect sin tax revenues? The little sins politicians love to hate.
