Meeks is Out

Rep. and Rev. James Meeks pulled out of the Illinois governor's race today. Sun Times:
The Rev. James Meeks pulled the plug on his fledgling third-party campaign for governor today after Gov. Blagojevich promised to unveil a 4-year “comprehensive” education funding plan.

“I’m saying, I’m off the ballot. Forget it,” the independent South Side state senator said at a news conference at the downtown Unions League Club.

“I have made my final decision that I am not a candidate,” Meeks said.

He had printed People First T-shirts in blue and white for a campaign kickoff tomorrow. Why he would trust the governor is beyond me.

So that's that.
