Oistrach Ensemble

Here's a tip from a reader about a concert in Evanston tomorrow night at 8 at the Music Institute of Chicago. She writes:
Michael Barenboim, Daniel Barenboim's son, will be playing Beethoven's violin concerto on a great old Italian violin and they will be playing Beethoven's 5th symphony.

Interestingly, this group is conducted by Mina Zikri, an Egyptian Violinist, who plays in Daniel Barenboim's "East-West Orchestra" which is composed of Israeli and Arab musicians. The orchestra is called the "Oistrach Ensemble" named after David Oistrach, a Russian violinist, and they were on WFMT a few weeks ago when they had a concert with Susanne Mentzer, a famous Chicago mezzo-soprano.
Here is more on the East-West orchestra and Daniel Barenboim, who has just moved on from the Chicago Symphony.
