Wilmette Park District Executive Director Terry Porter said Tuesday that he is very concerned about the charges against Burns, who has worked as a camp counselor and basketball and soccer official since 1995, and as recently as earlier this month.

He said police never told him about any investigation into Burns' conduct until Tuesday, and that he was unaware of any complaints about the seasonal employee.

"At the moment the person is no longer employed by us, since early June," he said.

As for the 2002 investigation, "The key thing was that no criminal involvement occurred, so the police had no responsibility to call" the district, Porter said.

I don't know the legalities, but if the police could legally do so, they should have called.
