On Strike at Mallinckrodt, Wilmette, part of a broader work stoppage. Sun Times:
Construction projects on the Dan Ryan Expy. and at O'Hare Airport were expected to temporarily shut down because of a Laborers union strike that was set to begin early this morning -- a dispute that could prove costly and delay public and private projects throughout northern Illinois. The work stoppage, which other unions said they would support, would shut down all seven projects, or about $240 million in contracts, under way as part of O'Hare's modernization, city spokesman Roderick Drew said Wednesday as the union announced strike plans.
The Construction and General Laborers' District Council of Chicago Vicinity and its affiliated unions said they would launch a strike against more than 200 companies represented by the Mid-America Regional Bargaining Association, or MARBA, after their contract expired at midnight Wednesday.
In other Wilmette News, there is the second of two Plan Commission meetings tonight on the Ford Redevelopment Project. Public input invited.
