"I don't think the foiling of that London bomb plot has any bearing on our Iraq policy," Bill Clinton told ABC News last week. He scoffed at the claim the plotters had Al Qaeda ties, saying "If that's true, how come we've got seven times as many troops in Iraq as in Afghanistan?"This is step No. 1 of a two-step maneuver and reflects the evolving position of the Democratic Party. The goal is to separate Iraq from worldwide Islamic terrorism in the minds of American voters. As public support for Iraq keeps falling, Dems are getting bolder in saying Iraq is an irrelevant distraction.
Perhaps Veep wannabe Barack Obama is choreographing his moves with the Clintons, lately calling Iraq a "dumb" war, trying to get to the right of the President and the Republicans, along with Hillary, on Iran and North Korea. I would be careful, though, if I were Obama, or even Hillary. It's hard to be as good a liar as Bill. And even he is not as good at it as he used to be. What was that quote from Honest Abe?
