Over the Top in Oakbrook

Sun Times front page story on the fallout from what you might say was overzealous behaviour by public servants in a Chicago suburb, "Couple fight back, collect $2 million":
When Fran and Casey Gaik got a barrage of harassing e-mails, found they had been put under surveillance and discovered their Oak Brook house had been entered while they were away, they couldn't exactly call the cops.

A cop was doing it, the Gaiks say.

What was their crime? They spoke up at village meetings and in public.

Fran Gaik, 55, a psychologist, wanted a good police chief hired for the town and questioned police morale. She helped set up a citizens' group for better government. Casey Gaik, 59, a home builder, called on the village president to resign.
Public officials treating residents like criminals.....what a surprise.
