Busybodies

More nanny state strictures in the suburb next door. A little revenue enhancement for Winnetka. Tribune story here.

The ordinance banning regular cell phones while driving has been delayed for a couple of weeks, with the possibility of warnings for a six month period so that other suburbs may be informed.

Lake Forest bans pot-bellied pigs as pets; Winnetka, talking on cell phones; Chicago, that and foie gras and making too much noise at backyard barbecues.

How random is this? How much everyday intrusion must we tolerate?

Liberals like to think they are the high priests of privacy, but are consumed with managing the minutiae of life--of their neighbors.

We used to call them busybodies.
