Election Information

Illinois deadline to register to vote is this Tuesday, Oct. 10th. Info at the Cook County Clerk website. So if you have a new voter in the house, remind them to register. In Wilmette, registration is at Village Hall from 7:30 to 5 weekdays and 9-noon this Saturday.

If you have college students who are already registered and they can't get home to vote, remind them to request an absentee ballot.

There is also early voting available, beginning Monday, Oct. 16th through Thursday, Nov. 2. Closest sites for Wilmette are Evanston, Skokie and Northbrook. For other early voting sites, link here. A photo ID is required for early voting.

And of course, election day is Tuesday, Nov. 7th.

FOR LOCAL VILLAGE BOARD ELECTIONS, SPRING 2007, there are THREE openings for village trustee. Unfortunately, unlike the school district, the village does not have a candidate packet with petitions available, but merely directs candidates to the county site, which has a very slow-loading PDF. Be sure you have the right petition. Candidates may begin circulating petitions this fall before the cold weather hits, for filing on Jan. 29th.
