McCain Engages Hillary

Sen. John McCain, in an opening move for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, takes on both Clintons on the matter of North Korea. He is blunt and he is right. Washington Post, via RCP:
"I would remind Senator Clinton and other Democrats critical of Bush administration policies that the framework agreement her husband's administration negotiated was a failure," McCain said in a speech near Detroit, where he was campaigning for a Republican Senate candidate. "Every single time the Clinton administration warned the Koreans not to do something -- not to kick out the IAEA inspectors, not to remove the fuel rods from their reactor -- they did it. And they were rewarded every single time by the Clinton administration with further talks."
The Clintons are finally being challenged on their lies and attempts to rewrite history. And perhaps McCain, as a darling of the MSM, is the only Republican candidate who can successfully cut through their bias and seriously undermine the Clintons' march to regain the White House. In this, McCain regains his footing with the conservative base, after standing on shaky ground during the recently concluded discussion of terrorists' rights under the law.

In case you missed it, here is an illuminating interview with McCain by Tom Bevan, RCP.

UPDATE: Check out this too hot to be official ad prepared for, but scrapped by the GOP, mocking the Clinton administration on its failed North Korean policy. And meanwhile, it is difficult for Japan to sort out the seismic activity of an earthquake from that of a nuke.

UPDATE: In a Reaganesque move, Sen. McCain goes over the heads of the MSM and straight to the blogosphere by guest-posting on a revered conservative blog. At Captain's Quarters, via RCP.
