Notable Events

One of my friends alerted me to this PBS special tonight on the resurgence of Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century. 10 PM Central (Channel 11 in Chicago).

Also this from a friend:
Come hear Nonie Darwish speak on the University of Chicago campus next Tuesday, January 16th, at 7 PM. She is a very courageous woman who has recently written a book recounting her life in Egypt as the daughter of a shahid--martyr. Since the actions of 9/11, she felt compelled to tell of what she has seen taking place in Egypt and now increasingly in the United States with radical Islam. She hopes to raise awareness in the fight for peace.

A very close friend of mine will be introducing her. He is an Egyptian Jew who had to leave Egypt due to religious persecution in 1967.
Details here. More background here. I first learned of Nonie Darwish through her moving words in the movie Obsession.

And in the continued pursuit of academic freedom, fired DePaul Prof. Thomas Klocek and conservative author David Horowitz will speak on Jan. 24th on the north side in Chicago. Hat tip and details, Marathon Pundit.
