Power Politics II

A kneejerk liberal "exposé" by Tribune reporter Crystal Yednak suggesting there is something sinister in a consumer organization in favor of reliable power having some funding from ComEd. Just because liberals run in packs don't judge us on the other side by your brainless proclivities.

The end of the article has a quote from the so-called "Citizens Utility Board" as a supposed "grassroots" group.

As most of us recall, the CUB is a creature of the Dem hacks in the state legislature, set up to harass ComEd. Initially we were subjected to their membership flyers with every utility bill, now due to a ruling in federal court in favor of ComEd, their propaganda comes inserted in state mailings.

Now Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn and his Luddite Leftie allies are squealing when someone decides to fight back with common sense information.

News Flash: We DON'T want a California-style energy crisis. Think how damaging limited power outages are after natural disasters. Imagine chronic outages.

A lot more people will be squealing then.

UPDATE: Lee Walker of the Chicago Defender:
The hardship on some members of the Black community can be reduced by programs specifically tailored to their needs. There's no reason why rich folks should get their electricity at artificially low prices in the name of "protecting the poor."

The Black community will benefit if electric rates are allowed to rise because it will show businesses that politicians in Springfield keep their regulatory promises, and because the higher rates will finance new investment in electricity infrastructure that will mean more jobs and higher wages for black families.

Ultimately, the black community's interest in economic growth should trump other concerns, because without more jobs and rising wages, blacks will always be vulnerable to such things as small hikes in electricity rates.
