Illinois' Dysfunctional Dems

A behind the bench brawl. Are we talking the slugout in the dugout, nope it's a near come to blows experience in Springfield. Sun Times:
Gov. Blagojevich appeared ready to throw a punch and “blew up like a 10-year-old” when a Democratic state senator rejected the governor’s personal plea to back his floundering health care plan, the stunned lawmaker said Friday.

A former Golden Gloves boxer, Blagojevich also allegedly threatened to unseat the lawmaker — Sen. Mike Jacobs (D-East Moline) — and yank millions of dollars in funding for a university in Jacobs’ northwestern Illinois district as retribution. [snip]

“I sat down across . . . the table and said, ‘Mr. Governor, I respect you, I’ve always helped you, and I’ve always tried my best not to say really mean things about you. But you know, governor, I cannot do this for you.’ And he blew up like a 10-year-old child,” Jacobs said. “If he’d have been my son, I might have put him over my knee and spanked him.”

During the encounter, Blagojevich acted like a “spoiled child,” doubled his fist and seemed as if he was going to punch Jacobs, the senator said.

“I thought we were going to come to blows,” a visibly angry Jacobs told reporters after the day of arm-twisting. “I was highly disappointed by what the governor did today, and I’m kind of ashamed to be a citizen of Illinois right now.”

Related Trib story here. Not to say really mean things, sounds grade school to me.

Dems don't make the grade for Illinois. Those dysfunctional Dems. They always say they're fighting for you, but as they have no idea on how to really govern, when push comes to shove they can only fight among themselves. They did manage to agree on one thing though--- voting themselves a pay raise, shamelessly tying it to funds for fallen soldiers.

The Tribune goes after Blagojevich in their Sunday editorial, "Governing for Failure".
