More than a dozen lawmakers, Cook County Assessor James Houlihan and Mayor Daley's staff had gathered at Blagojevich's request to discuss legislation capping property tax assessments. When it was apparent Madigan and Jones were not there, Blagojevich told the group he expected the legislative leaders to be in attendance, directed everyone to disperse and said he might reconvene later.
Several lawmakers took exception, particularly since Madigan had authorized Currie to represent him and the governor has harangued House Democrats for not working hard enough to tackle problems facing the state.
"If that's not insulting and sexist, I don't know what is," Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said of Blagojevich's refusal to deal with Currie and allow the meeting to proceed. "It's yet another bungle by the Blagojevich administration in a long, long list of bungling."
I couldn't agree more:)
