Dems Attack Kirk

Of all the attacks that Dems could launch against independent Republican Mark Kirk, Illinois 10th, going after him for not supporting the troops is the silliest. Dems in this district couldn' care less about the troops---they think they are baby killers. So the DCCC attack ads are a waste of resources. (Go ahead, make my day.) The Examiner:
Democrats are targeting Illinois Rep. Mark Kirk, a Naval Reserves officer, in a Fourth of July week media campaign criticizing Republican records on veterans issues.

The focus will be Kirk's "dismal record of failing the nation's troops and veterans," the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said in a Thursday news release.

It is the latest evidence that Kirk, one of 14 House Republicans targeted by the DCCC campaign, will be in one of 2008's hottest congressional races.

Kirk's races have always been close, (note: when the Dems run serious candidates, a problem, I know) it's the nature of the district. Conservatives think he hasn't been supportive enough, Kirk having questioned the military effectiveness of the proposed surge, but he voted to fully fund the troops once it became policy. And having seen his colleagues murdered at the Pentagon on Sept. 11th, his determination to fight Al Qaida is unquestioned.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, over in the UK, they've arrested a couple of doctors as suspects in the failed car bombings. Of course, they will probably claim they are the victims. And who among the liberals will question that.
