Churchill in a Baseball Cap

The Iron Lady is one of the greats.

The first and last time I saw her was a talk at Northwestern not long after Sept. 11th, when she opened her speech with a quote from Edmund Burke:
"All that's necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."
Rudy meets Maggie, accepting the Thatcher Atlantic Bridge award. Rudy, commanding on the world stage. On Iran, the emergent menace, WaPo:
"With the absolute assurance that if they get to the point that they are going to become a nuclear power, we will prevent that or set them back five or 10 years," he said. "That is not said as a threat. That should be said as a promise."

At times, Giuliani acted almost if he were the resolute world leader shoring up a potentially wobbly ally, as Thatcher felt she had to do with George H.W. Bush after Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990. After meeting with Brown, Giuliani said he was "very, very heartened by how seriously" the new prime minister sees the Iranian threat. Goodness.

WaPo palpitations, but they quote a strategist on Giuliani's appeal who says "time is getting short for the Romney and Thompson campaigns".

Looking toward the general election, Rudy took on Hillary in a big way last week.

And Rudy gives a nod to the NRA:

In many ways, Giuliani's real hope today isn't to win over huge swaths of single-issue gun voters, but to neutralize fervent opposition to him, mainly by stressing how he used gun laws to reduce shootings by 75 percent in New York. He is expected to focus on enforcing laws already on the books, targeting criminals and not law-abiding citizens, and stressing the need for mandatory sentences for gun crime, aides said.

"I think right now, the best approach is to focus on what could be done at the state and local level to deal with criminals who use guns," Giuliani said Thursday.
A serious candidate. To be taken seriously on all fronts.
