Political Reality Shows

NY Times Business section with a story on politics as entertainment, quoting their Executive Editor (well he tries to pep it up):
"There also seems to be a visceral national yearning to turn the page.”[snip]

Traditional political assets like money, endorsements and good poll numbers have not counted for much so far. The news media, which always vote the story, have been clobbered in the process, providing a nice running villain. With “Desperate Housewives” on a milk carton, people are gathering in clusters to put the boot to Chris Matthews of MSNBC, criticizing him as being in the tank for Mr. Obama and doubting Mrs. Clinton’s campaign.

“There is a new episode on almost every night,” said Brian Grazer, a Hollywood producer who is in what is left of the Oscar hunt with “American Gangster.”
It's the American political reality shows. We're on the hook until November.
