No Boots on the Ground Obama

So Barack Obama refuses to meet with Illinois veterans, Sen. Dick Durbin shamelessly lies on his behalf, impugning the integrity of our troops from his own state. The veterans' accusation stands--he didn't meet with them, nor has he met with General David Petraeus, yet he publicly promises to meet, without preconditions, the dictator of Iran, a country killing our troops. Matthew Continetti, TWS, "Change That Matters: Iraq has changed, why can't the Democrats?" fairly describes Barack Obama:
...when it comes to the surge, not only have Obama and his party been in error; they have been inflexible in error. They have been so committed to a false narrative of American defeat that they cannot acknowledge the progress that has been made on the ground. That isn't judgment. It's inanity.
Now Barack Obama, who has not been to Iraq for 2 1/2 years, refuses to take up Sen. John McCain's invitation to join him in Iraq. Via The Corner:
"John McCain's proposal is nothing more than a political stunt, and we don't need any more 'Mission Accomplished' banners or walks through Baghdad markets to know that Iraq's leaders have not made the political progress that was the stated purpose of the surge. The American people don't want any more false promises of progress, they deserve a real debate about a war that has overstretched our military, and cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer."
Oh? And how would you know, Barack, as you haven't walked the walk in Iraq?

No boots on the ground for Barack Obama.

As Jim Geraghty notes, it doesn't sound like Obama has any plans to visit before Election Day. He doesn't want to know. Not surprising, for someone who knows astonishingly little about the history of his own country.

UPDATE: 871 Days and Counting. RNC launches online clock counting the days since Obama's last cursory visit to Iraq.
