Books for Iraq

Help young people in Iraq reclaim their future, send them books and open up a new world. I remember when we liberated Iraq, children were in jail and schools were stockpiled with weapons. Learning was scarce and books even more scarce. Girls especially, as in Afghanistan, were discouraged from going to school. Much has changed for the better since then.

Christopher Hitchens has launched a book drive for the new American University in Iraq. They need books in English on a wide range of subjects-- classics in history and literature, but especially new books of scholarship and technical books to help them rebuild their country.
