Left and Radical Left

Trib does a softpedal profile of Obama's Hyde Park:
Hyde Park, an intellectuals' neighborhood par excellence, is often identified as a "liberal bastion," a cliche that will doubtlessly be recycled by out-of-town media during the presidential campaign.

Longtime Hyde Parkers aren't pleased by the prospect of instant experts offering snap judgments. Stick around a while, they argue, and you'll find out what the place is really about. For one thing, the neighborhood's essence is neither left nor right—it's a commitment to political orneriness.
Yes, there are a few libertarians, doubtless even a few conservatives, but it's Left and radical Left.

Ayers and Farrakhan are still persona non grata to most Americans. A little Hyde Park lingo there.
