Obama Stall on Iraq

Amir Taheri has a devastating piece in the NY Post on Obama's efforts to stall an Iraq withdrawal agreement. Presumably so he could claim victory for the surge (and deny vindication on Iraq to the Bush administration) on his watch as president:
Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet.
Barack Obama, deeply dishonest. And playing politics with the lives of our troops.

The situation on the ground should dictate withdrawal, not some hard and fast deadline, so that we don't lose the stability that we have established. And setting up a framework agreed upon with the Iraqi government is a sensible step and should not be delayed.
