The Tribune endorsed Ozinga:
Republican businessman Marty Ozinga runs an 80-year-old family concrete business. He understands the nation's economic challenges and would bring a practical common-sense approach to government. For years, he has quietly engaged in charitable work around the world, particularly on the African continent. He would have cast a tough vote for the economic rescue plan passed by Congress. Halvorson? We heard a lot of hand-wringing from her, but not a very definitive answer. When you talk to these candidates, Halvorson serves up Democratic Party talking points while Ozinga speaks from the heart. Ozinga is endorsed. And here's what they had to say about Democrat Halvorson:
...this race looked like it was primed for Democratic state Sen. Debbie Halvorson. Then we have the spectacle of Dan Seals bringing slimy Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias to campaign with him in the 10th congressional district. From the Kirk campaign:
But Halvorson has some explaining to do. She was the majority leader of the Illinois Senate, the top lieutenant to President Emil Jones, as he did everything he could to prop up a fumbling Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Jones stalled state ethics reform legislation for a year, while Halvorson stood by. Jones maneuvered the death of a constitutional amendment to allow the recall of state officials. And where was Halvorson?
She says she stood up to Jones in private. That made it awfully easy to ignore her, which Jones did. Her track record hardly argues that she'd be effective in Congress.
Seals continues to bring Blagojevich and Democrat dysfunction in Springfield to 10th CD
Campaigns with Blagojevich’s treasurer, whose family bank has questionable ties to mob
ILGOP asks 6 questions of Seals and Giannoulias
WINNETKA – First Dan Seals brought a Rod Blagojevich appointee, who drove a state vehicle in violation of state law to campaign for him, now, with one week before the election, Seals is bringing Rod Blagojevich's treasurer to campaign for him in the tenth congressional district.
"Bringing Rod Blagojevich Democrats, who represent the dysfunction in Springfield, to the tenth congressional district serves as a reminder to voters that Dan Seals plans to take the same kind of Blagojevich-style policies to Washington D.C.," said ILGOP Spokesman Lance Trover.
In light of Dan Seals campaigning today with Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, the treasurer whose family bank has questionable ties to the mob, the Illinois Republican Party is asking 6 questions of Seals and his new campaign buddy.
1.) Mr. Seals, does it trouble you that you are campaigning with someone whose family bank has questionable ties to the mob?
2.) Mr. Seals, first you brought in a Blagojevich appointee who misused state recourses for your campaign and now you are appearing with Rod Blagojevich's treasurer. With all the dysfunction caused by Rod Blagojevich and Democrats in Springfield, do you believe it's a bad idea to bring all these Blagojevich ties to your campaign in the 10th Congressional District?
3.) Mr. Giannoulias, why haven’t you done more to call out your fellow Democrats like Todd Stroger for raising taxes in Cook County, Rod Blagojevich for ethical lapses, and Democratic legislators for the dysfunction in Springfield?
4.) Mr. Giannoulias, like Rod Blagojevich and Todd Stroger, Dan Seals wants to raise taxes if he goes to Congress. As Blagojevich’s treasurer, did you support the Democrats' tax increase on suburban families and do you support Dan Seals' plan to raise taxes in Congress?
5.) Mr. Giannoulias, what have you done to solve the continuing failure of leadership in Springfield?
6.) Mr. Giannoulias and Mr. Seals, Rod Blagojevich has indicated he plans to seek a third term as Illinois' Governor; will you support him in that endeavor?
Totally discredited Democrats in this state.
