The Second Debate

Well, of course I like McCain, but I thought he really made an effort to talk in a positive way about jobs and growth, understanding we're not in the best place right now. And he did bring up Fannie and Freddie, putting Obama on the defensive. Nice poke about the Obama earmark for the $3 million telescope at the Shedd. [oops, correction--$4 million overhead projector, which sounds even worse]

I think it was clear on health care there is a fundamental difference, as they say. People will just have to decide which approach they like best.

Finally, Obama continues to squirm on meeting with Ahmadinejad, and McCain skewered him on Pakistan, suggesting he talks loudly and carries a little stick. And, as Brokaw posed the question-- do we know what the Obama doctrine is? Are we going to intervene everywhere now or nowhere. Maybe we are going to invade with the defenseless youth of the Peace Corps. There was a good question on Israel which Obama fumbled and gave McCain an opening to finish strong.

The campaign goes on.
