Union Thug, uh Boss Bill

Kiss your secret ballot goodbye. It's card check. Watch:UPDATE: Melissa Bean voted in favor of this. From Steve Greenberg:
Democrat Melissa Bean voted in favor of the “Employee Free Choice Act”, commonly referred to as “Card-Check”,1 which strips away our workers’ right to secret ballot during the process of unionization. This put her at odds with numerous pro-business organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, which said the measure would “give organized labor an unfair advantage in union organizing, at the expense of both employees and employers.”2 Even former Democratic Presidential Nominee George McGovern recently stated opposition to the bill, calling secret ballot elections a “basic right”.3

“Secret balloting is a staple of our democracy,” said Congressional Candidate Steve Greenberg. “To strip away the secret ballot rights of our workers is absolutely un-American. Our nation is founded on the principles of fair and free elections. How can Melissa Bean call herself ‘pro-business’ after voting for this bill? We need leaders who will stand up for hard-working Americans and be a voice for them in Congress.”

Under the current system, 30% of workers must sign union authorization cards, which then leads to a vote by secret ballot to determine whether or not the company goes union. “Card Check” would re-write US labor law so that once 50% of employees sign authorization cards the union would be recognized, bypassing the secret ballot process. USA Today said recently, “The proposed change would give unions and pro-union employees more incentive to use peer pressure, or worse, to persuade reluctant workers to sign their cards. And without elections, workers who weren't contacted by union organizers would have no say in the final outcome.”4

Steve Greenberg is the Republican Nominee for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois. A successful businessman from Long Grove, IL, Steve will reform Washington by giving the power back to the people, allowing them to make decisions for their own family. He will cut taxes, eliminate government waste, fight for lower gas prices and work to ensure the safety of our families.
