ILGOP Launches FriendsofBlago.com

How can Blagojevich Democrats appoint the next U.S. Senator when they are all part of the same tainted web?

CHICAGO - The Illinois Republican Party today launched FriendsofBlago.com, a web site detailing the tainted connections to Rod Blagojevich that Democrats bring to the process of choosing our state's next United States Senator.

"Many Illinois Democrats, who want to hijack the process to fill our senate seat, are attempting to mislead voters by claiming they are not close to Rod Blagojevich," said ILGOP Chairman Andy McKenna. "This web site is a tool that helps voters understand the web of tainted connections many Illinois Democrats have to Rod Blagojevich."

Today FriendsofBlago.com unveiled the tainted connection Lt. Governor Pat Quinn has to Rod Blagojevich. In 2006, Pat Quinn said he saw nothing wrong with Blagojevich’s 7 year-old daughter receiving a $1,500 check from a family friend whose wife had just obtained a state job.

According to Kristen McQueary of the Southtown Star: "As recently as October 2006, after Tony Rezko's indictment, Quinn was out stumping for Blagojevich. He held news conferences attacking Republican gubernatorial candidate Judy Baar Topinka. He said he believed Blagojevich did nothing wrong, despite the Rezko indictment."

"We cannot trust Rod Blagojevich's Lieutenant Governor to make the right decision when it comes to choosing our next senator," said McKenna. "The people of Illinois deserve to have a say in this selection."

FriendsofBlago.com will unveil a new Democrat and their Blagojevich connection each day to remind voters that Blagojevich Democrats should not be choosing our next U.S. Senator.
