Chicago Most Miserable City

Well, it's warm and sunny in the Windy City this morning but I know what they're talking about. Tribune:

Chicago is third on the list of America's most miserable cities, according to Forbes Magazine, trailing only Stockton, Calif., and Memphis.

Why? Says Forbes: "Lousy weather, long commutes, rising unemployment and the highest sales tax rate in the country are to blame for the Windy City being near the top of our list. High rates of corruption by public officials didn't help either."

There you go. The city that sent Barack Obama to Washington. We're still here. No change for the better in sight either.

Don't get me wrong, Chicago is a beautiful city. But it is marred by this dishonesty and graft. It's no wonder people are leaving the state:

On the outbound side, Allied saw the largest net relocation losses (more outbound than inbound shipments) experienced by Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois.
These are also among the most corrupt (Democrat) states in the country.

Oh, and Rahm Emanuel, the quintessential Chicago Way Machine politician is taking charge of the U.S. Census, wrestling it away from Republican Judd Gregg's Commerce Dept. Chicago has among the most gerrymandered districts in the country--Blue State Illinois is up to lose a congressional seat in the next census--but maybe Rahmbo can fix that--how about a few dead voters, it'll be a statistical sleight of hand--change you can believe in. The Chicago Way.

You know, one of the characteristics of socialist countries is their idea of fairness is that everyone should be as miserable as anyone else. I would say the country is well on its way.
