God Knows

I guess the president likes to make jokes at other people's expense, not his own. Self-deprecating humor is not his forte. Perhaps that's why he took a pass at the Gridiron Dinner, the first time a new president has missed one in over 100 years. The idea is to show you're a regular Joe, but we had one in VP Joe Biden, whose jokes cut a little too close to the bone:
“Axelrod really wanted me to do this on teleprompter -- but I told him I’m much better when I wing it. … I know these evenings run long, so I’m going to be brief. Talk about the audacity of hope. … President Obama does send his greetings, though. He can’t be here tonight -- because he’s busy getting ready for Easter. (Whisper) He thinks it’s about him. …
The president is on 60 minutes tonight, and a new toxic asset program is being announced tomorrow. Given Congress' craven and crazy behavior--and the lack of leadership from the White House--or the wrong kind-- God knows how it will be received.

P.S. We don't need a god-like figure, we need at least one statesman.

More. Powerline. VDH. Say a prayer or two.
