Obama should do what Lincoln did when he sensed that he wasn't getting war-winning advice from his generals and his military advisers--get books on economics and start learning more about the subject from new sources. Some recommendations: The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich Hayek, The Way the World Works by Jude Wanniski, yours truly's Flat Tax Revolution: Using a Postcard to Abolish the IRS, and the recent columns of Brian Wesbury and Robert Stein, as well as those of David Malpass. The President should also take to heart Milton Friedman's classic, Free to Choose. An expanded reading list can be prepared, but these are good for starters.Less fiction and biography, more heft please.
P.S. Our President Barack Obama thanks himself. Perhaps less reading on the teleprompter would also be a good practice.
