Residents of Kauai island in Hawaii banded together to repair severe flooding damage to a state park after growing tired of waiting for the state government to step in. The repairs, which the Department of Land and Natural resources said would cost $4 million to fix, were completed entirely by volunteer work over the course of eight days.More here and here.
