GOP Budget Released

Full text here. Statement by Republican Whip Eric Cantor:

A Focus on Small Businesses and Job Creation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement after Paul Ryan (R-WI), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, released the House Republican Budget Alternative entitled “The Path to American Prosperity”:

“Today the House will begin debate on two very different budgets that represent two very different ideologies – the Democrats’ that places a priority on Washington-knows-best policies and control over our daily lives or Republicans’ which recognizes that America’s greatness is born out of entrepreneurial achievement and opportunity, ensuring personal liberty, and celebrating freedom.

“The Democrat budget lacks focus on the key issues facing our nation, and irresponsibly burdens our children with a debt that they will be unable to pay back. Our budget has four main goals; to preserve and protect our financial, health, and retirement security, to responsibly control our debt, to ensure that our economy remains the envy of the world, and, most importantly, to ensure that our children inherit an even stronger America than we did.

“For those Americans who are worried about their jobs and losing their healthcare, our budget is for you. For those who are worried about the evaporation of their retirement savings and nest eggs, our budget is for you. For the small business people across our nation, who continue to struggle to keep the lights on and who aren’t taking home paychecks, our budget is for you. For those who refuse to pass a crippling debt onto our children, our budget is for you.

“The Republican budget today is the latest in a series of comprehensive Republican initiatives, solutions and plans. We understand that it is incumbent upon us to offer serious solutions at such a pivotal time in America’s history.”
