Ha. Illinois

This is the testing time. Tribune:
During a closed-door meeting of Madigan’s majority that preceded the vote, the Senate Democrat-passed tax plan of the night before got the support of only 35 House Democrats with 60 votes needed for approval. No House Republicans support the Senate-passed plan and vowed they wouldn’t support the smaller, temporary tax hike proposal.

Rep. Bill Black (R-Danville) contended the majority Democrats in the legislature helped enable the overspending of disgraced and ousted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, their fellow Democrat, during the last six years.
Dems taxing the life out of us if they could. Stand firm GOP. Now is the time to distinguish yourselves. No guts, no glory.

P.S.
After the hearing, Quinn would not say whether he preferred a proposal for a temporary, 50 percent income tax increase or the permanent 67 percent increase that also imposes a sales tax on services. [snip]"There's a lot of ways to get to heaven, and I hope we can get there by midnight," Quinn said.
Even God doesn't ask so much. A tithe is 10%.
