When is a town hall meeting a town hall meeting?

The White House press corps is getting rebellious. Chip Reid of CBS (video) nails a willfully obtuse Gibbs on the staged nature of the White House healthcare "town hall". The WaPo's description of the event remarks that questions were from "a hand-picked audience of supporters" and "from Internet questions chosen by the administration's own new-media team". The Post drily noted:
The president called randomly on three audience members. Each turned out to be members of groups with close ties to his administration: the SEIU union, Health Care for America Now, and Organizing for America, which is a part of the Democratic National Committee. White House officials said that was a coincidence.
They don't even need Dana Milbank to camp this one up.

P.S. But the NY Times follows their usual template.
