But, again, are there any grown-ups in the White House?
Who will tell the president that he must keep his word. In foreign policy it can be a matter of life or death. He must defend our country. He must give our troops in harm's way the means to defend themselves. He must defend our allies, else who will ally with us in time of grave need. He must defend what Americans most hold dear, our freedom.
Who will defend freedom if not the United States of America? Who will give the murderous bullies pause in their pursuit of power, nuclear and otherwise?
Who?
Is anybody home?More. Obama goes wobbly on Afghanistan. Karl Rove, WSJ.The president can sustain bipartisan support for the war if he demonstrates his personal commitment. WaPo. In Helmand, a model for success? Influx of Marines and focus on security bring peace to a southern Afghan town -- at least for now
More. Gibbsy gets tough. Well, Gibbsy, as I recall, since he was my Senator from Illinois, however much he was absent or effectively voted present, Barack Obama had a voice as a sitting U.S. Senator. Did he lead a charge on upping the number of troops for Afghanistan? And frankly, NATO was taking the lead in Afghanistan. Isn't that the approach the president would prefer? And yet it didn't work as well as we would have liked. (Oh, is that why you're gutting NATO?) Perhaps that is why the President, as recently as last March, as recently as this August, supposedly enacted a new policy. For the war of necessity. The good war. As you say, Gibbsy, a "solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform".
Is there always a better war--but none worth fighting--for you Dems?
