Duffy needs to be vetted more closely before we accept what he says. He leans to social libertarianism. He was put in power and kept in power by a 75-80% democratic district, because they never ran anyone against Duffy! With those numbers they could have run the mailman and won. Do we really want someone that in bed with the Democrats in the Republican Party?
Of course we should closely vet our candidates. But we should also define our terms ("social libertarianism"), not only in the abstract but also as they relate to the individual, and we shoould also offer an objective basis for our assertions. A Republican holding office in a traditionally Democratic county is not prima facie evidence that he's "in bed with the Democrats". Maybe - just maybe - a majority of the voters think he's done a good job as DA? I'm not from Wisconsin, so only know Mr. Duffy from what I've read in the national media. But it's hard to see from those accounts - and from Mr. Duffy's statements - where Toqeph is coming from.
I highly doubt that Mr. Duffy is "in bed" with the Democrats. I've met him personally and I can tell you that Mr. Duffy stands on the conservative side for every issue that I care about - limited government, right to bear arms, pro-life, etc...
Mr. Duffy was able to look me in the eye, shake my hand, and tell me that he would do what he promises to do on the campaign trail.
That alone is worthy of respect. Let alone that he is spending a lot of money to challenge a 40 year incumbent - which takes truck loads of courage to even attempt.
The middle of America. As for me, moderate in everything but politics. As Tom Roeser said, she went to Harvard and turned right. I come from The Chicago School, not the Chicago Way. Tweet street @backyardconserv
