Good one by Quigley vs. Madigan

He's an Illinois Dem, but a rarity. Hmm, why can't I find this editorial online? "Downsize Illinois". Is it only in the Tribune suburban print edition? Here's the key quote on eliminating the Lt. Gov's office after the Dem SLC debacle:
If Speaker Madigan is going to eliminate useless government, I hope he doesn't stop at lieutenant governor," said Quigley, a former Cook County commissioner. "Kill the townships, the regional school superintendants, the county recorder, the state comptroller, half the school districts in Illinois. If you need more, call me back. I mean it."
And um, presumably Madigan's daughter Lisa would be next in line as AG if the Lt. Gov's office is eliminated.

How about stepping down yourself Mr. Madigan?

Quigley has an excellent point, though. Illinois has too many political entities, all ripe for bloat and corruption. Six figure salaries abound for no good reason. We can't afford this stuff.

More. Another first. I agree with Zorn.
