Democrat candidate for Senate Alexi Giannoulias--always an explanation, never responsible.
…When the family bank was flying high and Giannoulias had his eye on the treasurer's office, he was the senior loan officer, but when the tough decisions were made or the questionable characters came to call, it was almost always Alexi's day to empty the wastebaskets…Tribune editorial. What a guy, that Alexi. Throws his family (bank) under the bus. Blames his dead dad. Just the kind of stand up Senator we want to send to Washington to represent us. The Tribune sees smoke, the Sun Times sees smog.
From the left, Mark Brown: "He can explain and explain and explain...". From the right, John Kass. Jeff Berkowitz on Carol Marin's flaccid PBS interview of Alexi.
Look, Alexi was on the fast track. He was doing hot deals with hot people (in prison) with hot money at the bank. He allied himself with another hot political property to propel himself into the treasurer's office of a bankrupt state.
Alexi Giannoulias. Too hot to handle. Much of anything. Playing fast and loose with his family bank money, with other people's money in the probable Broadway Bank taxpayer-funded bailout and Bright Start college fund losses cover up, and now with the truth about it all.
