Liberal Fascism: Violating the Covenant

Ben Stein: My Thoughts on Watching the Dems Stab the Constitution on the Congressional Floor

Quinn Hillyer:
There will be much more to say along these lines in a full column later this week, but for now, this should suffice: Bart Stupak, Kathy Dahlkemper, Indianans Ellsworth, Donnelly, and Hill, and all their supposedly pro-life AND pro-fiscal-integrity colleagues who voted for Obamacare are in for a life of unmitigated hell. They should, they must, they will never, ever, ever be allowed to forget what they have just done to America. They should be hounded and haunted for the rest of their lives. What they have done to the social compact is monstrous. What they have done to the economy is unforgiveable. What they have done to our republican (small 'r') system of government is vicious and vile. And what they have done, yes, to unborn children, is a grave evil.
I keep thinking of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis open the sacred chest, the Ark of the Covenant. And we see their eyes gleam with greed and then dissolve in horror.

You have violated the trust of the American people. Most Americans recoil. And we will never forget this.

You know, this bill actually fits the economic definition of Fascism: http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Fascism.html

It is a disgrace. And there will be hell to pay in Nov. if not before.

Yes. Yukio--I know you follow all this closely.

The more I think about it the more I think how really terrible this is.

I don't think I'm exaggerating.

The National Review, The Wall Street Journal and the Weekly Standard are all calling for a repeal. It is possible.

Bill Krystol points out that the subsidies don't go into effect until 2014. It can be rolled back before then-- if the Repubs run a repeal platform and then have to follow through.

I don't think you're exaggerating either, but it can still be defeated. Most people didn't want it and probably most people want it gone.
