...Hey--are you price-gouging us Mr. President? (Are you lying to us?) Maybe we should ask Lisa Madigan to investigate this in Illinois.
Are you taking away our inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? We know Lisa, unlike dozens of other states, is taking a pass on this.
We feel like we're just chattels, property.
An emancipation proclamation will have to come from we the people at the voting booth in November--while we still have the chance.
...Can we call this whole thing separate but unequal? Can we say no man is above the law any more? We can do better. We want our lives back.
UPDATE: From the comments:
Lisa Madigan should join the attorneys general. It is my understanding that the health care bill places a 10% tax on services at tanning salons, effective immediately. As far as I understand, taxes on services rendered in Illinois are prohibited by the Illinois Constitution. Will no one speak out?UPDATE: GOP lawmakers in Illinois request our AG sue.
I imagine that the tanning industry doesn't have its own lobbyists, as these services are usually rendered by very small, individually owned businesses.
