Isaac Hayes Challenges Corrupt Jesse Jr.

The Dems and a corrupt Jesse Jr. must be feeling the heat (not to mention the Feds) from the Hayes candidacy, attacking him with racist remarks. Now Republican Isaac Hayes receives a valued endorsement. From Hayes for Congress:
CHICAGO: Republican Nominee for Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District Isaac Hayes released the following statement today:

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of City News. This endorsement by a community paper sends a strong message that the status quo is unsustainable. Empty promises and political corruption have persisted for too long at the expense of economically distressed communities. Illinois 2nd District needs new leadership, new ideas and a new face."

Endorsement from City News

"The City News, an African American owned newspaper which circulates in Kankakee, Will and Southern Cook Counties today endorsed Republican candidate Isaac Hayes in Illinois’s 2nd Congressional District race.

"City News publisher James Taylor Sr. said of the endorsement, 'We are proud to endorse candidate Hayes because we believe he represents the kind of leadership that will aid in the redevelopment of many of the communities in the 2nd Congressional District and his ideals and values bode well for all the residents of the district.'

"Taylor added, 'We understand that with nearly 63% of the residents of the 2nd District being African American, and the fact that many have traditionally voted for Democratic Party candidates, that Mr. Hayes may have a difficult time convincing that majority to cast a vote for a Republican, but we also recognize that the high unemployment, street and gang violence and underserved schools and communities all have occurred under the representation of Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.'

"The City News has often come to the support of Congressman Jackson in the past concerning the building of the Third Airport and jobs for the district but the publisher said, 'When the poverty rate for African Americans in Chicago is over 32% and the unemployment rate in Illinois is as high as 34% that speaks to why crime pervades in many neighborhoods in our communities. We need leadership that is working to increase job opportunities for all our communities. One barrier is the access to capital and another is Illinois leadership is plagued with corrupt politicians who have and continue to abuse their positions of power. This district needs a change in direction and leadership and we believe Issac Hayes represents that change.'”
Let's recall incumbent Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-2nd) faces the Blago/Rezko trial fallout this June:

Jesse Jackson Jr. has not been accused of wrongdoing in the Blagojevich case. He was referred to as "Candidate A" in the indictment of Blagojevich and was recently interviewed by the feds. Blagojevich believed he would be paid $1.5 million through Jackson Jr. "emissaries" if he named Jackson to the Senate seat, according to the federal charges.

A federal criminal complaint alleges that the ex-governor told his brother in a recorded call to meet with Nayak, referred to as "Individual D," to ask about giving money upfront for Jackson's appointment. The next day the ex-governor told his own brother to "undo that [Nayak] thing" after reports surfaced that the feds could be recording conversations, according to the criminal complaint against Blagojevich.

Nayak has since been in discussions with federal investigators.

In other news, Big Shot Jesse and his driver run more than one red light in Springfield.
