Selected Oppenheimer Funds as the fund manager for the Bright Start college savings plan. When certain Bright Start funds collapsed in 2008 due to mismanagement, successfully misled Illinois voters to the true extent of their losses for nearly a year. Recovered half of the college savings lost.
Successfully reduced Treasurer’s general office budget by $26,000 by purchasing an SUV with Bright Start funds instead.
Successfully sold the state-owned Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield for less than half of its appraised value, locking in an $18 million loss for the taxpayers.
