Sometime within the last two weeks, while the residents were out of town, unknown offender(s) burglarized a home in the 3200 block of Greenleaf. This address is located near Wilmette & Hibbard. Entry was made by breaking out a window adjacent to a rear facing door. Three flat screen TVs, jewelry, and currency were taken.

Between Tuesday night May 4th and Wednesday morning a resident in the 4000 block of Fairway Drive reports that someone propped open a 1st floor exterior window. This address is located west of the Wilmette Golf Course. It does not appear that entry was gained to the home.

    Garage and Auto Burglaries

Sometime overnight between Monday night, May 3rd and Tuesday morning, an unknown offender(s) burglarized a garage in the 700 block of Linden. This address is located west of the CTA "el" station. The offender(s) entered an unlocked garage and smashed out the window of a vehicle parked inside. A wallet was taken.

At 4:20am, a resident in the 900 block of Amhurst was woken by the sound of his car alarm. This address is located west of Lake & Ridge Road. Later in the morning he discovered that someone had attempted to burglarize his vehicle.

A resident made a delayed report of a burglary to a garage that occurred overnight between 4/18 & 4/19. The garage was located in the 1600 block of Forest. This address is west of Green Bay Road and north of Lake Avenue. The garage was unlocked at the time. A mountain bike was taken.

    Arrests

On Wednesday May 5th at noon, an alert resident in the 900 block of Shabona called the Wilmette Police to report on two suspicious persons in a neighbor's back yard. The offenders fled prior to the arrival of the police. The complainant was able to provide officers with a vehicle description.

An hour later a Wilmette Police Detective unit observed a vehicle matching the description at Wilmette and Green Bay Road. The detectives recognized the occupants as two individuals that were wanted on warrants from a Wilmette theft case in 2008. The two individuals, both residents of Chicago, were arrested and charged with felony theft.
