Sen. Barack Obama just gave a big speech on Energy Independence, doubtless meant to be the Democrat plank on energy and a challenge to the president.
Now while I thought President Bush's state of the union reference to alternative energy was pretty lame, Obama is offering nothing new here.
It is a 70's rerun on big government subsidies for alternative energy technology, and a bailout for uncompetitive Detroit automakers.
Unless Obama talks about nuclear power he can't be taken seriously on energy independence.
And he disappoints again.
