A Cautionary Tale

A new level of lawsuit revealed in Oak Park. Developers bite back on diversity. Tribune:
Long celebrated for its diversity, Oak Park instead was defending itself last week from accusations that it was against plus-size women after a battle with a developer became public.

RSC & Associates, which is redeveloping a building in a key retail district in the village's downtown, filed suit late last month in Cook County Circuit Court against the west suburb.

The developer said it had a signed lease to move retailer Lane Bryant into the building at 1116 Lake St., but Oak Park officials would not allow the retailer to move in, telling RSC that the store is not of the "kind and quality" the town seeks.

Lane Bryant bills itself as a "fashion leader in women's plus-size clothing."
A cautionary tale for government getting itself in the business of picking businesses, and payback for pompous PC posturing.
