Has Been Wannabes

Like an old record from the 60's, or maybe a bad remake of a non-classic, Students for a Democratic Society are reconstituting themselves and coming to Chicago next month. First alerted to this by Respublica, now I see a post on the upcoming event at Captain's Quarters. Concerned out-of-towners are giving us a heads-up and presumably staying out of town. Nice quote here from the Sun story:
A Cooper Union professor, Fred Siegel, 61, said, "The great advantage the New Left had was a sense of enormous promise of walking down unexplored paths. Now, 35 years later, we see that those paths led to personal and social breakdown. There's no returning to the earlier innocence."
Well, yeah.

(I wonder if Rahm will try to hide, like he did when Cindy Sheehan came to town.) Maybe the Chicago City Council will name a street after one of its luminaries, but I think the better approach is to ban them entirely. They are a much less appetizing than foie gras or even cooking oil with trans fats.
