The new FEC reports are out showing the status of candidates's fundraising. Story here in the Pioneer Press highlighting the Illinois 10th congressional race. Incumbent Republican Mark Kirk has outraised his challenger with over 80% in the reporting period coming from individuals.
Democrat candidate Dan Seals, who does not even live in the district, (nor does the DCCC Chicago suburban candidate Duckworth) has some individual contributions, detailed here. As has been the pattern for Democrat candidates in this district in the past, I imagine he will be heavily dependent on contributions by outsiders as we get closer to the election---namely Chicago unions and limousine liberals from around the country.
And, as in the neighboring race in the Illinois 6th, it raises the question who this candidate really represents? Do we really want Rahm Emanuel (also here) and the Chicago machine calling the shots for our suburban district? (What Would Rahm Do?)
