An Invasion of Crooked Carpetbaggers

Good column by Dennis Byrne today. Chicago politics dominate the state, and its corruption taints us all. And those of us who live in Cook County and the collar counties ought to be especially alarmed and concerned. Byrne ticks off a list of reasons:
- Fourth, if Daley and his minions would leave the suburbs alone, maybe we would be glad to leave Chicago alone.

Chicago's patronage system provides an army of political workers that Daley and his machine sent into Will County and other suburbs to do his bidding. This army of stooges helped elect Rahm Emanuel to Congress representing Chicago's North Side, and now is invading the west suburban 6th Congressional District, to foist Emanuel's handpicked, carpetbagging candidate, Tammy Duckworth, onto voters.
It is a blatant power-grab, which redistricting made easier by sucking parts of our bordering congressional districts into those of Chicago. Jan Schakowsky is my congressperson.

You can see why I started this blog. Illinois is a one-party state with a warlord mentality.
