Tribune Endorses Kirk

Tribune congressional endorsements here.

Kirk is endorsed in the 10th:
Kirk, a leader of the moderate GOP caucus in the House, reflects his district very well. He has been strong on veterans' and environmental issues, working to clean up Waukegan Harbor and end sewage dumping into the Great Lakes.

Kirk also received this plaudit from the editors of the Daily Herald:
"...the 10th has a solid, energetic representative in Kirk who was raised here and remains attentive to local needs."

Latest polling shows Kirk plus 17-25 points, with one poll showing 11% undecided.

Schakowsky grates on the Tribune:
9th District: We endorsed Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky in her last few elections, even though we disagree with her on many issues. But her style of unceasing partisanship contributes to the bitter atmosphere in Washington. She'll bash Republicans on all matters, but when her husband Robert Creamer was sentenced earlier this year for federal bank fraud, she wouldn't acknowledge he had committed a crime. She'll rack up big numbers in this heavily Democratic district against Republican businessman Michael Shannon of Park Ridge, who refuses to take campaign contributions. The Tribune makes no endorsement.
Nope, not only did Schakowsky never acknowledge he had committed a crime, she said "
"More than anything, I am proud of who Bob is. ... He has been a constant crusader."
