With pressure mounting on Democratic presidential candidates to adopt hard-line positions on curbing global warming, Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday backtracked from his long-held support for a controversial plan to promote the use of coal as an alternative fuel to power motor vehicles. [snip] The change by Obama reflects the political high-wire act facing Democrats as climate change emerges as a top-tier election issue. How long as he been a Senator anyway? Still a freshman Senator, Obama cynically caves on an important issue for this state. And he has the audacity to talk about cynicism in politics, most recently here:
In addition to Illinois, coal is a dominant political force in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, all key electoral states.
In his speech Friday, Obama complained of a system of politics that has become infected with cynicism and self-dealing."As we've become cynical, you've seen the void filled by lobbyists and special interests and narrow agendas," the Illinois Democrat said.
"People are ready to turn that page on that old, outdated politics."
I guess Obama has outgrown Illinois. We are just so much baggage on his way to the top.
Turn that page. And for more of Obama's politics as usual previous post here. Just today!!!
